Rock Pipits galore

21st February 2015 – sun and showers NW4/5
Offshore
A check over the sea produced 2 Shag, 2 Red-throated Diver and a solitary Common Scoter.
Wildfowl and Waders
The Brent Goose flock held 181 pale-bellied birds while waders included 5 Greenshank, 2 Black-tailed Godwit and a Jack Snipe.
Miscellaneous
The high tides flushed 60 Rock Pipit from the island’s saltmarshes and 100 Twite were logged. The first wave of returning Lesser Black-backed Gull were noted.
Ringing
At least one of the Rock Pipits was found to be colour ringed – hopefully its origins can be revealed.
