Lesser Whitethroat stakes territory and a Hooded Crow flies through

Offshore
Quieter over the sea than of late with early morning observations (0815-0915) producing 88 Common Scoter, 25 Gannet, 17 Razorbill, 9 Sandwich Tern, 3 Kittiwake, 3 Red-throated Diver and a single Arctic Tern.
Grounded Migrants
A single Lesser Whitethroat was on territory and newly arrived grounded birds included 20 Wheatear, 5 Willow Warbler, 2 Chiffchaff and a White Wagtail.
Diurnal Migration
A Hooded Crow flew through early morning and 3 Lesser Redpoll were amongst small numbers of Swallow and Sand Martin.
Wildfowl and Waders
The pair of Gadwall continue to linger and waders included 16 Purple Sandpiper and 12 Whimbrel.
Miscellaneous
A day flying Barn Owl hunted over the island
Butterflies
Both Speckled Wood and Green-veined White are now on the wing.
