Wildfowl on the move

Offshore
Early morning observations on the rising tide (0800-0900) produced 81 Wigeon, 59 Common Scoter, 45 Kittiwake, 22 Teal, 12 Razorbill, 4 Whooper Swan, 3 Red-breasted Merganser and 2 Guillemot.
Grounded Migrants
Sightings were limited to a handful of thrushes with 3 Song Thrush, 2 Blackbird, 2 Redwing and a Fieldfare logged.
Diurnal Migration
Another poor showing with just 215 Starling, 11 Meadow Pipit, 8 Whooper Swan, 3 alba Wagtail and single Chaffinch and Lesser Redpoll logged.
Miscellaneous
A total of 53 Twite were seen and both Water Rail and Merlin continue to be recorded.
Moths
The moth traps held Angle Shades, Silver Y, Chestnut, Red-line Quaker, Dark Sword Grass and Large Yellow Underwing.
