Pectoral Sandpiper stars

Rarities
A juvenile Pectoral Sandpiper spent the day in the central marsh at South Walney (Reserve open 1000-1700hrs)
Grounded Migrants
Only evidenced by 8 Wheatear, 5 Chiffchaff and single White Wagtail and Whitethroat.
Diurnal Migration
Single Osprey and Hooded Crow both flew through by mid-morning along with 1070 Pink-footed Goose. However, general passage remained light with additional sightings limited to 220 Meadow Pipit, 14 Skylark, 12 alba Wagtail, 10 Swallow, 6 Grey Wagtail, 5 Jackdaw and 2 Sand Martin.
Wildfowl and Waders
An influx of Wigeon was apparent with 50 birds logged and waders included 3 juvenile Curlew Sandpiper, 2 Greenshank and a Ruff.
Miscellaneous
At least 6 Little Egret were along the eastern shore of the island.
Moths
Both Black Rustic and Feathered Ranunculus were additions to the year list.
